np 208 transfer case question

today i pulled my t case and split the case just enough to clean and reseal the halves ( they were leaking bad) anyways its back together and i noticed that when it is in 2 hi the front shaft yoke spins if i spin the rear yoke. i can grab it with my hand and stop it because it isnt actually engaged, however there is some friction there. did i do something when i split the case? could it just be because there is just no fluid in it yet? i dont wanna put it back in and have to pull it again! thanks

i pulled the case apart again this morning all the way this time and i couldnt find anything wrong with the shift forks or anything so i put it back together. with the back of the case off i could spin the main shaft and it wouldnt turn the chain. when i set the cover on the chain spins? anyways now that i think of it its done that since ive got it. what could be wrong with it? i would like to get rid of the extra drag im sure its causing. thanks!
