Transfer Case shot?

95 F-150, 154k miles. I see that both driveshafts have a little play where they enter the case. I think it's a 1356. Is this normal, or are the bearings on their way to metalburger?

that is pretty normal. my transfer case was still going strong at 300k when i went airborne and landed t-case first on a hard rock... a little bit of play shouldn't be cause for any worry.

Good. I'm rebuilding the rear axle and I don't want to do a transfer case too.

Bearings usually don't go bad in these, You could get some wear on the rear output if it has a slip yoke, sometimes you can get some wear on the bushing in the tail shaft.
