Question about new FICM

I'll be brief. I had a new FICM installed last week at the dealership. Made a road trip on the interstate.

With the new FICM, gas mileage dropped from just over 20 mpg to about 17 on the interstate (I used to get 17.5 in town!!)

Also, turbo boost is WAY up. Half throttle on the on ramp and I'm pushing 30 psi. I'm afraid to give it more gas.
In fact, it'll sit there at 20 psi running under no load if I just accelerate a little.

Question: What did they do to my damn truck and can I get the old performance back?
The truck is all boost and no grunt.

Thanks.

Winter fuel drops the mileage, how do you calculate it? By hand?

Not sure on the boost, where are you receiving the readings? After market or dash? What year is the truck?

Back to normal...

sorry about taking so long to reply.

The truck is back to normal now. There had to be some kind of an adjustment period or something. After about 500 miles of driving, boost is back to normal levels. Truck is back to its normal self.

To answer your questions - it's an '05 Lariat; factory boost gauge in dash. I'm not using a programmer or anything - truck is stock.

Sometimes I calculate mileage by resetting the trip meter at fill up and dividing that mileage by gallons at the next fill up - the old way. Of course, this factors in all the driving I've done since last fill up and is usually a combination of city and hwy.

I'll also use the built in MPG meter to view mpg's in a narrower time frame. For example, if I'm gonna be on the interstate for a while, I may reset the fuel meter once I'm on the interstate and monitor mpg's while on the interstate. Ive found the meter to be accurate, but you need to be on the highway for a little while for it to settle in.

Is it possible that they downloaded the latest flash after installing your FICM? Do you know if you already had it? That is one of the complaints of it.

Not sure if they did or not. I've seen several posts here where the owner had an issue after reflashing.

Anyway, I'm just glad everything seems normal again.

I wouldn't say there are issues with anything really. It's much better on your FICM for sure, may hurt the mpg's a tiny bit.
