my dads 84 f250 diesel has some that are similar, but rather than swinging out, they slide out. not sure of its packaging, but I will try and get some pics.
I need some different mirrors. I have the factory black 2 bolt ones for 85 and they collaps to easily, so I'll probably end up with the ones Trent has but was wondering if 87-96 mirrors will mount in factory holes?
If I recall correctly, the 1992-1996 F-Series/Bronco XL and XLT mirrors will bolt up to our trucks, however you will have to cut the arm off the back of the mirror. These mirrors are far from original, but they don't suffer the sagging problems since they have the support under the mirror.
Yep, those are the ones. Are they called "swing-away"? What packages were they in?
I believe the technical Ford term is Swing-Loc. The mirrors with the six retaining screws are called "Recreation Swing-Away Mirrors" in the catalogs. The non-extendable four retaining screw mirrors are referred to as "Western Mirrors".

Correct!
Swing away and Swing-Loc are both used in Ford Literature to describe both the Western, Aero and the Recreation mirrors.
When Ford changed the head of the mirror from the western (triangular head) to the more rounded oval shape in 1982, a switch to calling this type Aero is seen in literature I have.

This is what I was actually looking for, mirrors on other ford vehicles that would work. I like the idea of making subtle changes that only few people will pick up on. I'm still trying to decide which ones I'm going to use, just have a few more ranger ones I'm going to look at.
