Ok I see the part number for this rubber hose part. Why do both the engine I am running and my spare both have a steel tube running from the cdr to the valley pan? Both are 86 6.9's. Has anyone else had one with the steel tube on it?
LOL, I am glad I do! It also has a nylon ring on the cdr that seals up thesteel tube. If i ever get around to my cdr delete system I will let you guys fight over the tubes LOL.

I had never seen the rubber tube untill I installed a factory turbo on my nephew's 93. All the ones I saw were the steel tubes. That rubber tube works for the factory turbo oil drain, if you cut it off where it narrows dont to form the riser tube.
Well i just found out without the CDR hooked up. There is the potential to lose 8 qts of oil via the rear main (and wherever else) in a 75mile drive. We were driving from Nampa to Glenns Ferry, everything was fine, just had the oil changed and away we went. 77 on cruise and haulin ***. We get up there and my dad decided to take and early exit and go the back way in. Lucky thing too, as we coasted up the off ramp it was obvious something was wrong. Wouldnt idle right, sounded like it had at least one exhaust leak, was missing, and lifters were goin nuts. Coasted into the store, i hop out, immediately notice the whole underneath of the truck is COVERED, in oil, not wet, not moist, oil pouring off of everything. I holler shut it off, we did, check the oil. No surprise none on the dipstick. Luckily the guy who ran the store ( that didnt open for another 3.5 hours) showed up for the propane guy and we were able to get some $20 /gal. walmart oil. Ended up putting in 8.5 qts. We popped the hood and it was then that i noticed the breather tube from the valve cover to the CDR was unhooked. Now notice i say unhooked, not bent over Not plugged, simply unhooked, and venting to the atmosphere and not the intake. We fired it up, the oil pressure gauge danced for about 6 seconds, then finally read normal. We went 2 miles to the house, it sat for a couple hours. Fired it up, no sign of ever being ran out of oil. Well minus the 2 gallons of fresh oil underneath. Anyway, put the breather tube on, made it home without losing a drop.
I have learned my lesson, recently on mine (why i added it to my intake), and just yesterday on my dads... I have no idea how a CDR works, but i know it does, and for that reason, its stayin on.

Anyone know where I can get the nylon ring that seals the tube? Broke mine when swapping the cdr and I just got the rubber hose retainer (e8tz-6a892-a) from Ford. Is there a way to switch it they did not know what I was talking about with the nylon ring.
if you are burning oil i am afraid you have bigger problems than the cdr.... you have a blowby problem...i have the same thing going on and i went through the cdr problem and tried everything, i still burn a gallon a week driving 250 miles a week, thats why i am building another engine
No I'm really not having a burning problem. Maybe a quart every 400 miles or so. Just want to get it sealed up right again and I cant find the nylon seal. And I know my home made fix is not making a good seal
I got that from.my local Ford dealer. But that's not the part I have on the truck, my valley pan has a metal tube that comes up the cdr sits in. On the bottom of my cdr there is a nylon ring that clips on to it then it slides intothe metal tube. Can I adapt the part to fit in the tube or is the tube removable so I can use the rubber adapter? If not wherecan I find that nylon ring?
I have no idea as mine is the opsite as you can see in my pictures on the other pages.... Try McMaster Carr website they have everything u can imagine that's were most guys get ther O-rings for injectors and such...
