What made you pick an Excursion?

This is my first Ford, Ever.. Always been a loyal Chevy guy.. My last Chevy was a 94 suburban and I loved that truck. Unfortunately had to sell it.. My wife and I were looking for a new family vehicle that can handle the kids, My remodeling & landscaping companies, small enclosed trailer and yearly trips to the keys and New York. Our choices were 2000 suburban, a Saturn mini van (Not on my list) a Ford expedition or a lincoln navigator. We have 5 little ones so size, power, mpg and comfort were priority. What made you pick an Excursion?

Holds the family, 3 dogs and plenty of stuff behind the 3rd row - as well as tows the boat! Can't beat the combination.

I always been a Ford guy, and in 2002 I test drove an X and I told my wife that as soon as we could afford it we would get one. It took 4 years but I was patient and finally got one! No reason to really own one only have 2 kids and I don't tow or need the room! The 4x4 is nice when it snows but not necessary!

I have had 3 super dutys in the past. And have always wanted a excursion sence they came out new but the wife said no way. So now im divorced and needed a new to me truck so I looked for 2mo and finaly bought the ex that I have always wanted. And the funny part is when I went to pick up my kids and she came out she saw the ex she said I see you finaly bought your fu*ck'n excursion and I just smiled from ear to ear.

See there is positives in getting divorced LOL

I always thought they were cool, but they were way above my budget when new and the pain at the pump is a killer. The fact that we now need something that seats eight comfortably with cargo room was a perfect excuse ... er, REASON to buy one now.

i needed a replacement/upgrade for my 99 tahoe and didn't want a soft 1/2 ton chebie suburban. Towing power & room inside where the two main requirements. What we end up with is an incredible truck

I would disagree with that. When the kids get to the point where each one wants his/her own row because the other one is "mean" or some such and then you are on a road trip with luggage or you've got the dog/dogs with you etc... I found out the hard way that even a full size SUV like an Expy runs out of room REALLY fast when you think you have plenty of space.

Among many other reasons, the cargo room behind the third seat is what really tipped the scales for us. We've had it since 2004, may keep it "forever." (I just sold my 1984 Grand Wagoneer that we've owned since 1986)

Wanted an SUV that could tow a travel trailer we liked. The only options were the Excursion or 3/4 ton Suburban. Friends had always told me Ford makes better trucks than Chevy, so went looking for Excursions.

Glad I did. If I went looking for a Suburban, I would have gotten the half ton version by mistake...not knowing the difference back then.

I've always thought they were cool, we are about to have a third child so I wanted more room and as you guys know, these have plenty. They are just plain bigger than anything else out there.

Always been a Ford man. Always. The Excursion release had caught me by surprise. I didn't really understand what they were until a friend bought one. I decided then and there that if I ever did buy an SUV, the Excursion would be the first thing that I'd look at.

I've pulled my boat with the pickup for years. Even bought a $1,000 BakFlip hard tonneau cover for it a couple of years ago for secure storage. When I finally got tired of sitting in the truck for hours while the rear-end drove me crazy, I told the wife that I was serious about an Excursion. After months of looking, I finally found what I wanted. (Though now that I have it I think that I should have gotten a more "feature rich" one.)

I have always been a ford truck guy. Never owned anything different. Had an expedition that would seat 9. Was never happy with the 4.6 in that. Always said my next one would be an excursion. Didn't know much about the v10 but the diesel was out of my price range. I love it. Don't want anything else. Will either buy another one or rebuild this one. I love big vehicles. And this was the only choice. No where to go from here. These things take the cake. Love the room. Love the power and thanks to this site I'm going to love modding it. Party on!

My dad always had Fords dating back to the 61 Falcon and 66 LTD, I bought my first new truck off the showroom floor, 1979 F150 4X4, loved that truck, many years went by without a Ford in the driveway after the pickup was gone, until I needed a tow vehicle for our 20' Cuddy Cabin boat, 3 girls and two dogs. Even though gas prices were peaking around $4.00 a gallon July 08, I felt it was the best time to finally get another Ford in the driveway after 29 years!

The rest is history!

Well, before we print this edition of the history book, let's go for completeness. Have you posted Ninety Two THOUSAND times in the past 3+years, or were you active here while still coveting Ford ownership?
