1. Nuthin more 'Murican than the biggest damned domestic SUV ever made.
2. It's a Ford.
3. I have been in the parts business for years. You get a feel for what not to buy. Build quality was higher than you would expect in a truck, no major complaints from owners.
4. I wanted to be one of the cool kids... Everyone else was buyin 'em...lol
Will tow more than I need. Has the most interior room. 4x4 will get me up the boat ramp with zero worries, no matter what the tide level is. My Rottweiler looks really cool with his head out the window. My wife gets to complain that I spent more money on El Super Beasto than I do on her.
Why do i have a Excursion ,, Here's why I bought my Dad's suburban & Airstream , after my dad passed away... In 2005 on the way to Myrtle Beach , the suburban's engine went Ka BooM , Left it in Dunn N.C. , Bought the Excursion off dealers lot New Left over .. 4X2 V-10 , made the deal left the dealer with it,, 3 hours later after blown engine . Off to Myrtle Beach ,, The most Expensive Vac. i have ever takin $37,500 . for it .. was in a pinch .. still have it , i looked at the speedo today 24,450. miles on it .. i hardly ever drive it .. But it towed the Airstream better the the suburban did .. and rides like sitting on a Leather Couch !!!! Chevy's can't do that kinda ride ..
Intimidates the hell out of punks who might consider messing with the "chick by herself"...not really why I drive one but a side affect that comes in handy whenever I'm down in the "da hood".
I love shutting the door on snotty little bimmers and the like weaving through traffic as they try to figure out how that big sumbitch moved that fast. The look on their face is priceless.

No lie!
I was taking this chick from work to lunch we got to talking and I got distracted and was in the middle lane when I needed to be in the right land lane. There wasn't much room, so I mashed it, the 38R spooled, and we made it just in time to make the turn to Buca Di Beppo
While I was looking for a spot to park she mentioned how surprised she was at how something so massive took off and drove like a sports car
As for why I chose the Excursion.....
My Father before me bought the X new August 2001, but somehow I knew she would eventually be mine. By August 2003, he grew to hate it and I grew to love it. The fact that it was a diesel powered SUV captivated me and had me sold since first started telling me about them before they came out. He was looking to sell it by the fall of 2003, but noticed that I took an interest in it. To that end, he handed it over to me and bought himself another car.

The rest, my friends, is history...
I've had that same question asked of me on multiple occasions.
