Indeed he can say that again, where the other driver might not be able to... and obviously you always hope everyone is unhurt. That is another reason I'm looking at one myself now. The ability to completely rock another vehicle in an accident while keeping me and my family safe. Heck, I have seen some that looked like they hit a solid post/pole head on, completely caved in the front end and besides the airbags being deployed, the inside is untouched... Can't really put a price on that.
Considering that ford stopped making them and that there are less and less on the road every day makes me feel privileged to own one. I don't think Im ever getting rid of this truck and Im sure I'll buy another one.
I've read all the post on this thread and everyone has their own reason why they picked theirs. Some said size, some said power, some said space. some even said just because it looks cool. I would like to add a little more to that. For me It just feels right. I also get a kick out peoples faces when they see you parking it. The look on their faces is priceless.
I started making biodiesel and needed something with a reliable engine, big enough to tow a dual axle trailer, and enough room for us and our dogs. Love my truck.
yep I've posted in there a bit. 7.3L powerstroke loves biodiesel, I've got about 15K miles on mostly B100 so far. No one else has ever made such a solid engine in a big SUV platform.
Blending right now for cold weather with about 10% kerosene.
Be careful with kerosene... it has the red dye, if you get pulled over and they test your fuel it will look like you are running off road fuel. It sounds crazy but I have heard of it happening.
Had a couple dodge diesel trucks, had a couple kids and bought an 01 PSD X. It was unreliable so I sold it. Had another (twin turbo 647hp/1027ft.trq.) Dodge diesel, again just too small to travel with, got a crew cab Chevy duramax diesel and I'm back to a V10 X. The whole diesel thing has run its course for me and I've always thought Ford makes a better truck. So gaser X it is! We love it, all 12.4 MPG of it. lol

12.4 MPG? [searching for "green with envy" emoticon]

Red Diesel also has a UV dye, and will glow under a UV light.

thanks I am aware of that, last winter I managed to find clear kero but this year no such luck. I've never seen or heard of any checks in my area, and I never consent to searches of my vehicle. I don't know where the authority would come from for a random search, unless someone tipped them off and they ahd probably cause.
Ordered a 6.0 Limited in 03 and the local dealer could not locate what I wanted in a timely fashion, ordered as a black Limited, black interior and 2nd row buckets, (knowing now that the black interior was not an option is likely why the vehicle never became available) so I cancelled the order, got back my deposit and went on my way. Fast forward to April 2005 and I stumble on a v10 2003 black limited with 43k for 21k. The dealership said the previous owner couldn't stand paying over $3.00 per gallon and cut his loss's... Yippie for me.. Got the gas instead but have been very happy with it.
In 03 I just thought it was the biggest coolest SUV available and wanted it, when we bought the V10 we had just purchased a 31' Keystone Raptor Toy Hauler for camping and shortly followed a Junior Dragster and golf cart for my 10 year old son. The drag racing had us going every Saturday (IHRA) and Sunday (NHRA) from April to October for 3 Jr Dragster seasons. Basically, we needed a big nasty that would do everything we wanted.
