Looking for some guidance/help. i last week i started hearing a soft drone from what i believe is the fuel pump, not really any drivability concerns except when tuned i have a stutter at around 2700rpm on moderate exceleration like a weak injector , when stock it is not exsistant, now after 3 days of truck sitting in 28f-49f degree weather i drove it for 15 miles and the noise from the fuel pump/hfcm is much louder, more like a whine or high pitch hummm. but no hesitation at all is my fuel pump about to crap out on me? or am i getting air from somewhere, maybe pick up tube is clogged. i can even hear it more when i put a ear near corner panel just forward of fuel filler area, like resenance if that makes sence. any ideas?
Change the fuel filters out and see if it goes away. If so problem solved.
If it still makes noise start saving for a new one. But don't wait to long low fuel psi will take out injectors. Just went through that last month fortunately for me I still had warranty left.......
Fuel filters have less than 5k on them, yes i still probably have some bio but less than b-40 i have been cutting with reg. Diesel for 3 weeks. Its good to know i can buy only the pump and not.the whole hfcm because i have the one with the heating element in it 2003 style
Well added 1/4 tank pump diesel and it quieted the humm/wine down when warm but cold starts are still noisy with wine/hum. Blue spring upgrade then replace fuel pump if that doesnt fix it. Anyone know the part # for just the fuel pump.for a early build 2003 6.0 powerstroke
Here's the pump, but I wouldn't pay that for it (at least I would bet Tousley can beat it) ........ An entire HFCM (6C3Z9G282C) is approx. $260 at Tousley.
