Hey guys.. Just a note about what happened to me, in case anyone else has the same thing... Recently swapped out engines in my 97 7.3.... Had to change short block due to cylinder perforation from cavitation. Had my heads rebuilt, Got a Terminator T500. Rosewood stage ones.... Anyway, after install, truck ran great! Occasionally, while tooling around at idle.. As in looking for parking place on parking lot, truck would just die. Hit key and it would start right away. Then started quitting while backing up grade into my driveway. I switched CPS from my old block into it and haven't had a problem with it yet.. Oh, BTW.......I'm tickled pink about how the truck runs with new mods. Feels like a different truck!!

Good to hear 91. Was it the previous owner who caused your engine problem? What happened to the motor as it was failing?

Yes, I'd only had the truck about a year and a half. Coolant level started going down slowly. One day on 10 mile trip home from work, engine temp went high. Stopped and filled with water to get home. Next morning when I tried to start, it was hydrolocked. Had heads rebuilt, thinking head gasket or cracked head. Reassembled. Same thing.. It was the rear cylinder on drivers side. I removed the injector from that cylinder. Pressurized coolant system and using one of those little inspection cameras, looked through the injector hole. Could see air bubbling up through the water that was covering the top of piston. When we tore it down, you could see small dark spots on the cylinder wall, about the size of the head of a stick pin.. You can bet I checked the coolant in the engine I bought, and put the additive from Ford in coolant when I got it up and running.
