Up pipe leak

03 f250 with exhaust leak in up pipe. Is it true that the 04 up pipe has no scoop inside it and will fit my 03 and then i could block off the access to the egr cooler?

Also would like to replace exhaust system with possible 4". Any suggestions? I want to open it up but also dont want it real load.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

When the egr cooler changed for the 04 model year, the connecting point was moved further back towards the firewall, making the pipe shorter since the 04-up egr cooler is longer. The 04 up-pipe will not fit your 03. The up-pipe on the 03 does not have the scoop inside of it anyway.

are you getting a used up pipe from the bone yard or something??

The thing that will set the diffrent models apart with the up pipe is a round or square EGR Cooler
the round egr cooler is shorter
the square egr coooler is longer
you will have to get an up pipe for a round egr cooler

I dont think that it matters what year or scoop or not the plug kit for the egr cooler are the same for all years

BTW maybe you already know but my 03 didnt have a scoop in the up pipe for the egr cooler

Oh 1 more thing your round egr cooler is a good one its already built like improved models they sell odds are it will never go out

What blade said the round coolers rarely go bad just keep it in and maybe new oil cooler. And no scoop in your pipe as they said.

Whilst we're on the topic, does anybody know the part numbers for the gaskets which go before and after the up pipe.

i.e. the ones that i'd replace when i removed it to blank off the egr supply.

Thanks

Well ok then i guess i did not do enough research yet. i saw a thread on removing that scoop and of course i cant find it again! lol

still need to finish diagnosing thing cause the dealer said the egr cooler was bad. Im just trying to figure out some of the other things im wanting to do to this thing while waiting on parts and my scangauge.

I know the up pipe is leaking so i guess i might as well get one ordered then right? and put a block in it if i decide to do that?
