GPCM Test
Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way to test the GPCM to make sure it is working properly. I'm having clod starting problems, I'm changing my glow plugs and glow plug harnesses on spec.

Install an inductive ammeter on one bank at one of the two harnesses at the Glow Plug Controller Module (GPCM). You can get up to 200 A at first, but then should stabilize around 35-45 A. Check the other bank with the inductive ammeter. Both sides should read the same. If not, check the amps to each individual glow plug to determine which one (or ones) is bad. Each glow plug should draw 10-12 Amps.

As bismic stated it is easiest with an inductive ammeter. I just had to replace the plugs and harnesses in my 05 recently, 4 of them tested bad they only had 77k on them. Ohming the glow plugs is the best way to identify if the plugs are good as cheezit says.
My FICM also tested bad and that was the remaining part of my cold start issue.
Both are fixed and she starts like new!

I'm in the wheel well now and have replaced the glow plugs and in the process of installing a new harness. I was wondering if there is a trick to seating the terminal ends into their respective holes. I'm having a hard time pushing them in.
