Coolant change?

A few years ago I had a well-maintained Mazda pickup that had a few miles on it (125K) and it blew a head gasket. I thought that was a bit early to be having such problems, but the local machine shop that repaired the head said that if it hadn't had the coolant changed regularly, it wasn't unusual at all. They recommended that aluminum-head engines have the coolant changed every two years. While I have no problem doing that to prevent problems, what do you guys use and how often do you change it. This truck needs to last a long time and i want to keep on top of all this stuff, so whatever I need to do is as good as done. Thanks

Every 2-3 years is what I generally do. I did my '08 V-10 in 2010 at the dealer. They used a machine that removed the old, heated the new and replaced old with new. Pretty slick.

I use good old ethylene glycol (the green stuff you need to keep dogs out of) and change it every 2 years.

That's been my routine on all my vehicles. I keep my vehicles FAR longer than the average buyer.
