Had my truck notify me that the coolant needed to be replaced. I had a couple questions:
How much of a job is this? Assuming i have a container large enough is it something that can be done in my garage?
How necessary is it to keep up with coolant changes? I live in southern california where it never freezes and rarely gets above 100 degrees. I do not commute in the truck just take it out on the weekends and do not generally tow with it.
I know eventually the coolant needs to be changed but I bought the truck a few months ago and I was told all fluids had been changed. The oil life was 100% when I bought it and filter looked new. I assume they didnt reset the coolant timer is all (hoping they didnt just tell me it had been changed when it hadnt been).
But either way I was going to wait until my first oil change to do the coolant. Should be in a few thousand more miles. I don't run any real problems waiting that long to change the coolant do I?
