Bought the truck 4 months ago and love it. The last month or so on the highway around 70mph it would miss like it was not getting fuel. Well Tuesday it was acting up really bad I took it to a diesel mechanic by my house not the Ford House, and he put it on the computer then drove it and said it was my FICM. Well $1100 later I still have the same problem.
This is my first diesel and I know nothing about car in general and less about diesels. Here is a little info on the truck Crew Cab,4X4,intake,Dual 4" exhaust, EGR delete,SCT Programmer (Flash).
I was getting around 22mpg before this problem started, and after he replaced my FICM best I am getting is 18.
Thanks in advance for any help.
You could have a few issues. Did he say why it was the ficm? Are you bringing it back to them? If you paid $1100 and it's not better, then they need to make it right.
I learned that about the FICM the night I had it done. I live in Keller an read from a couple other guys that had it rebuilt by a guy in Haltom City that gives a life time warranty on his work. I really need the truck for work and was just trying to avoid any down time.
I had the filters changed 5000 miles ago at Kwik Kar. Im not sure which ones they used.
I thought of something else, I don't know if this makes a difference but the first time I ever noticed this was after my hose from my intercooler blow off the turbo.
Thanks again in advance for any advice.
I am going to attempt to change my fuel filters on my own today. Wish me Luck. I'm a trim carpenter and not at all a mechanic.
He put it on his computer and said it was only showing 38 to 40 amps at the FICM.
The hose blow off when I was trying to pass another truck, I stuck my foot in it and it blow off started blowing black smoke and I lost power.

That would be volts, not amps and the brand of filters is critical on a 6.0. Not saying that is your problem but if the filters are restricting the fuel you can take out the injectors. The 6.0 is one of the engines that needs all OEM filters.
