Is this U joint broken?

I was out 4wheeling this weekend and heard a couple clunks, checked out my u joints and this one has a lot of play.

Did I lose needle bearings you think? Break a cap? Elongated yokes?

This is the front axle shaft u joint by the by.

TIA

Yeah, it's gone. Replace it with a better Spicer U-joint. They suppose to not have play like that.

Yeah, a U-Joint has to be tight. It can't be loose like that, it will cause stress until eventually it breaks apart.

My u-joint on my Bronco exploded while I was driving...you can tell with a wobbling-unbalanced feeling while driving.

Yes Sir
U-joint is done, your stub axle(the outside end) is supported by a needle bearing located inside the spindle and it also needs to be replaced. JBG has Spicer u-joints($30.ea.) and spindle bearing/seal kit(10.ea.) for a Dana44. This is the time to check the rest of your front end so you only have to tear it down once.

The reason its like this is cos my "friend" locked the hub on that side when it was on the rack and I didn't realize it was locked until I went to lock it to go wheelin 150 freeway miles later.

I've got a spicer u joint and needle bearing for the inner spindle for that side. Do you think the wheel bearings on that side need to be replaced? They're only 4,000 miles old

Thank you everyone for the quick responses!!!

Your wheel bearings should be fine, I would just clean, inspect and repack , might want to get wheel bearng seals.

That's what I was thinking with the wheel bearings. I blew up the hub on the other side so it looks like I've got tomorrow planned after work haha
