Reset overhead computer ??

Can I reset or reprogram the lie o meter. It is way off, displaying that I can travel over 700 miles. Then it comes down quickly like it is calibrated wrong. I see that the "zone" can be changed but I don't know what that is for and when I change it no difference is seen. I appreciate any help. Thx.... Ron.

The only thing that you can do is hole down both buttons for a few seconds and that will let it start over again. Most aren't very accurate.

I've learned to subtract about 12 mpg from what the lie-o-meter sais, and its pretty close to actual mileage...

^^ What Chet says.... The "zone" you refer to is for calibration of the compass....

Unfortunately I have not seen a way you can recalibrate it. It seems to be a mathmatical algorithm that uses injector PW for the calculation. If you are running a chip or tuner the fuel stretegy is changed as is the injector PW, that is why they are usually so far off. Like most of the others have said, run a few tanks through it and see what your actual mileage is and what the OH console says. You will find out that subtracting the difference will always be pretty close to what you are getting. Mine in 80E is about 5.3 MPG higher than actual.

Thank you very much for the replies. Bought the truck 6 years ago and it was chipped. But didn't see the big inaccuracy with the OTC until recently. Suddenly jumped way off. I'll chalk it up to the chip and not worry about it. Thx..... Ron.
