Hi Gang!
Many of you know that I'm on my second 2011 F150, and of all the troubles I had with the first one....well, I took a trip up into Canada on a teaching trip, and with only 150 miles on the odometer when I left, the new 5.0 averaged 18.7 MPG over the 500+ mile trip.
The trip there showed 19.5 on the dash when I arrived at my destination, then coming home yesterday, with snowy/Icy roads (it snowed about 8" while I was there with freezing fog) and running in 4x4H for about 100 kilometers of the journey, the dash showed 17.9mpg when I arrived home.
The icing on the cake is that after owning this truck for 3 weeks, there has not been a single electronics snafu/issue!!! After all the disappointment with the "other" truck, I am absolutely thrilled! Now I look forward to getting in my truck and driving it!

The last I heard, the dealership is having one of the employees drive the old truck, hoping that some of the issues I had will surface again, with the intent being to try to track down the cause(s) and fix it. I believe the backup plan is that if they can't find/fix the problems/issue, the intent is to ship it off to auction "somewhere".
I kinda cringe at the possibility of somebody else getting that truck, but the truck I have now is quickly making me forget about the old one!

impressive. glad you have a better truck this time around. I'm hoping to join the 5.0 ranks in the next 1-2 yrs
as if Ford cared enough about their customers to actually do something like that

I was at the dealership this morning, and while talking to one of the managers I asked what had happened to my old truck. I was told that the Sales Manager had driven it for a couple of days....until he went to start it one morning, and all 4 windows rolled down when he started it, and he couldn't get them back up. I asked what happened next, and the guy told me he didn't know....but he's not seen the truck since that day.
I agree that it should be sent back to Ford, but have been told that if the dealer does that, FoMoCo makes the dealer pay to ship it back, then makes the dealer eat the cost of the truck/vehicle.
I've learned a great deal about the interactions between dealerships and the "company" during this whole affair.....I had always thought that the automakers and the dealerships were essentially a "partnership"....but nothing could be further from the truth. It's almost like the dealerships are the "whipping boy" or the "red headed step child" for the Company. It seems that no matter what happens on the bad side with a vehicle, corporate will take no responsibility, and always pushes the blame, costs, or anything else negative onto the dealer.....but if "good" comes along, the corporate side takes the credit.
From what I've seen, it's one of those "do as I say, not as I do" type of situations...in other words, pretty lopsided in favor of the Automaker.
Anyway, beyond what I was told today, I have no idea where the old truck is now, but I do know that I'm glad it's not in my driveway any longer! and hope that it goes to some nice scrapyard somewhere and gets recycled into Mt. Dew cans!
It's so cool to now have faith in a truck.....I catch myself making excuses to drive it now! WAHOO!!

Hey Ed, glad you are enjoying the new truck. That is amazing that the auto maker would take such a postion. If it were me I would want that truck back and have it gone over with a fine tooth comb. Even if it goes to auction you still have a truck that's a lemon and bad PR for Ford. Who the hell is making those calls???? and we wonder why there are problems.
