pyrometer acting crazy?

hay guys its been a while scense my last post , but i try to check in every day and see whats going on.
to tell the truth my trucks been running like a champ.
but a week ago i notaced my pyrometer acting crazy.
it idles at about 300 which is normal.
but its 60* outside and at 60mph im at 650* . not bad
but at 70mph im at 850*
this has happened at 60* outside and at 40* out. same pyro temp.
one day at idle it read 850*
iv checked my intercooler boots and found no visable cracks.
my boost jumps up normal and holds.
also it takes my pyro somewhat of a while to move up and when i let off it takes longer for it to fall off. a 900* run use to fall off fast when i got out of it, not now.
i checked all my grounds and connections .
i did notace that on my pyrometer probe where the wire goes in the probe i have what looks like broken ceramic dust or what ever is used to seal off the wire to the probe.
i dont know if maybe i need a new probe, or the box between the probe and gauge. or a new gauge, or all of it.
any help would be great.
on a side note its been a year since my 3rd and hopefully last back surgary. every thing is going good so far,
i just have to re learn what i can and cant do.
as long as i can still weld and make an 8 hour day im happy.
every so often i look at my old back brace and walker i had to use and i think how much God has blessed me. and my family.

Can't pinpoint the problem with the EGT gauge because it could be several things. But i'm sure it is something with the gauge and not the engine.

Glad your back is holding up and you can still bring home the bacon.

Put that back brace and walker somewhere out of sight. Could lead to bad Karma if you keep looking it.

lol. my wife told me to take a pic of the brace, and hang it in my toolbox at work and think of it when i try to pick up something heavy.
ya i am thinking its not the engine. theres no constant with the gauge.i think ill try the probe first. then the box and gauge combo.
looks like a call to clay when i get over the kids christmas gifts

On my Cummins, I ran the original pyro probe for like 4 years, and then it started freaking out like that, I changed it and it worked just fine again.... a year or so later that one started acting up.. I still have it in since the truck has only been driven less then 1k miles all year long, and only towed light with the chip backed down.

I would change the probe, since you already checked the connections.

Let me know, I may have a replacement I can send you...

Just because I know what you've been thru...
