Got in my truck the other day and my Pyro gauge was going haywire. Back and forth and then it started acting normal. Sounds like a got a short but which wire? Thanks

No its an ev2. It seems to work fine now. But it was acting crazy which led me to believe it was a short

Could be an intermittent open. Check all the connections.

Check to insure the wires at the back of the gauge are fully seated.

When you've had as many problems with Autometer as I have, you may change your tune.

Similar OT? I have a Autometer Phantom EGT gauge I bought used. Its unplugged and the needle is stuck at 6.

Any ideas what to do with it?

I just barely got the rest of my gauges and pillar, so I haven't had time to install them.

10-4... I have no preference either way really... I have had zero problems with mine so far. I think they are both great products, i just personally liked the look of autometer better, so that's basically what made my decision.

Have you paid attention to how many Autometer pyro problems have been asked about on the forums over the years?

I'm not saying that the other companies out there are perfect. Anything can and will fail. However, when it gets to the point that I have to buy two Autometer pyrometers initially and take back the one that doesn't work (or MAYBE I get lucky and the first one does), that cuts into my time.

I have to drive 120 miles round trip to get these things (if people want Autometer), so if I only buy one gauge and it happens to not work (more often than not, I get a dead one or one that bottoms out), then I get to drive all the way to town and back to get another. Kinda cuts into the money I make installing them......

Until I start having repeat problems with the EV2 gauges, I will continue to recommend them. My only issue with the EV2 gauges is the stupid connections on the back of the gauge. They prove to be pretty problematic if not perfect, and that's usually where the problems lie with them. Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems, but some folks can't win for losing when connecting them. Frickin' scotch-lock style connections.

That's the only word that the language filter would let me use. Trust me Robin, I wanted to be a bit more vulgar.
