Testing IAC Valve
I've just removed my IAC valve to clean it, and I have received useful information here to suspect it for my problem of my truck turning over but not starting on occasion. I was wondering if anyone has ever successfully tested it while it is off. When I supply 12v power across the terminals, the valve makes a clunk noise, but it seems to be open whether power is applied or not. I am not sure if this is a definitive test. Also, has anyone noticed if a bad valve can cause a loss in fuel mileage while not loosing power or any other symptoms?
