91 F350 Dana 50 swap?
A small story for ya to begin with, I was giving a 91 f350 idi for free just have move it, problem is its got a broken Dana 60 in it (needs a new knuckle) which i cant find local that doesnt want 500 bucks for it
I need to move it asap but dont have money for a new knuckle and the whole 9 yards, I do have a d50 from a f250 diesel (leaf) that im wondering if it will bolt up so i can at least pull it out and move it, it doesnt need to be drive able, just tow able, will this bolt on or not?
thanks for helping out a new guy to this fourm and to diesels

There are frame brackets required for a D50 that aren't on a D60 equipped truck. The holes are likely there, but not certain.
Personally, I'd just hire a tow truck and have it towed that way. It's a free truck, if you can't afford $100 to have it towed, then you have other issues we won't go into.

Go look at all the extra brackets in the centre portion of your truck that holds the Dana 50 in, and tell us if it's 'difficult'? Impossible, not at all. Nowhere near as much work as trying to do a 2wd to 4wd conversion. It's still going to be a lot of work.
Also knowing how difficult it seems to be to get a Dana50 properly aligned, even on a factory install, I don't even want to think about it on a home install.
Since it was a free truck, and he hasn't gone into any details to the long term plans, I still suggest he simply get it towed, then figure out the plans for the truck.
The reason you can't find a knuckle cheaply, is that why would a wrecking yard sell one knuckle cheap, when the entire axle is worth $7-1000? Take that knuckle off, and what good is the rest of it to them?
Looks like three (maybe four) options here.
1. Go to an aftermarket knuckle, will still be pricey, but maybe possible to buy just one side for now, or upgrade both. (If the knuckle is broken, who is to say the tube/housing/etc isn't damaged too?)
2. Find another D60 to put in it
3. Part the truck out and get what $$ you can for it, and keep any parts you want for yourself.
4. Put the D50 in it, but plan on it being long haul instead of short term.
5. Keep hunting for a used knuckle for a cheap price. Maybe contact some of the aftermarket suppliers, and ask if they can put you in touch with anyone upgrading their knuckles?

When I read Dana 50 and F250 I assumed ifrythings was talking Super Duty Dana 50 as converting a solid axle to ttb front, even temporarily isn't going to easily happen. I figured he was looking for a quick easy install to get it moved. Time to call the tow truck and hit the duct tape, bailing wire, and ratchet strap to hold it together long enough to get it up on the hook.
If it was a later ball joint Dana 60 I could have helped you out for much less than $500. I have a pair of ball joint dana 60 knuckles to sell.
