brake booster is shot ,going to replace it and install pcv one of these days , the repaint was done with materials i already had so $0 out of pocket .
after christmas i'll be able to spends some $ on her again .
Don't know how "shot" that booster is, but FWIW, on 3 separate occasions I've pulled boosters, washed them all out and had good boosters again. Once each on a F150, Datsun 720, and Mercedes 250/8.
Yeah, really. All mine had basically gone bad from sitting. The MC started leaking at the rear and leaked brake fluid into the booster. Brake fluid absorbs water and water causes rust. Mine were leaking vacuum around the center of the booster where the pushrod and stuff goes through. Mine didn't leak too bad just idling, but pumping the brakes would kill the engine. I've cleaned them out with soap and water, mineral spirits, and naptha. I suppose lots of stuff would work. Then I blow them out with low pressure air (40-50psi maybe), and try to get them real dry. I then spray quite a bit of WD-40 into them, swish it all around and pour out the excess. It fixed everyone I've tried, but it would do much if the diaphragm is busted.
