I have a 2000 f350 with about 175000 miles on it. it has a 6 position switch, and s&b intake and stacks. i noticed yesterday that it was blowing alot of white smoke. i thought maybe it was alown head gasket but its not low on coolant. i saw alot of oil dripping out the bottom of the stacks. i looked at the turbo and theres alot of oil under it. Any ideas??? thanks
Or the o rings in the pedestal or under the turbo. My oil x over came loose on a turbo swap n it filled the valley and ran down the back of the engine.
If your blowing white/blue smoke, it's the turbo internal seal. Order a turbo rebuild kit (Ron's Turbo Shop on ebay) one the bolts and clamps are sprayed with a rust buster type of fluid (let sit for a good half hour, you can have the turbo out in about an hour, and rebuilt and back in in less than 4 hours tops. I got it down to about 2.5 hrs LOL....
Order a kit from Riffraff and call them if you have any questions, they will walk you through rebuild. Don't mess with eBay hacks that sell crap parts for way to much. If they were a good store they wouldn't waste their time on eBay. Not to mention Riffraff is a avid forum sponsor.
Hello Guys. Sorry for the first time post But this is kinda urgent.. Lol
Ive got a '99 250 4x4 completly stock.
I think im having the same problem as talked about above. But Im not sure..
I had the truck towed to a shop (im not home right now) and they did a compression test and said my motor is toast.. anyway i dont believe that
heres whats going on.. Its blowing smoke really bad. Im not loosing any coolant, The smoke under hood is coming from the oil fill cap
Can't be sure but with that kind of smoke and the pulsing of it in firing rythm out of the oil fill it is possible. Did they give you the compression test numbers? That is the true test because it is hard to tell on the video.

If they did a compression test what are the numbers. Will the cap on the oil fill tube stay on when placed upside down. I it stays on when placed upside down you are not building excess pressure in the crankcase. You mit have only blown the turbo seal. There lots of resent posts on here try and look them up. They had to pull the valve covers to do a compression test along with the glow plugs. Did they do that? Is it a diesel shop that knows our 7.3 PSD motors? I'm not much help we need to know more!
Number 5 is bad for sure! Cylinders should be closer to 400psi is what I've been told. Time to pull the heads. Bore scope it if possible, but with 250psi if done right its bad. Hopefully its a valve but that hasn't been the case in most cases.
the shop that did the compression test was houston performance diesel

Actually from what I've read, anything below 350 could start to be a problem. With thoses numbers and there gauge they all look close except #5. If your home and can do the work pull the head off and take a look. Or at least take a second test yourself, compression test. You can also pull the turbo if you think thats the problem and take a look. Wish I could help more then that, maybe someone else will check in soon. god bless,
