so I rebuilt my turbo because of smoking at idle and in traffic. well it is still smoking. I was wondering the original turbo drain tube is still in the truck. will this keep oil from draining and make the oil seal in turbo leek?
is it common for build up to accrue in the tube and restrict flow? just looking for some simple answers hoping i don't need a new turbo.
i put new seals on both ends from the rebuild kit. and looking at the instructions it said to line the gaps on the seal to top and was thinking if the oil is not draining out fast enough that it would leak through the gaps since it is basicly a labby seal and not a postive seal or mechanical seal.
what else could make a new seal in a rebuilt turbo leak?
I havent checked the play of the shaft with an indicator but it felt ok to me but i will check it this weekend when i can get back under the hood.
so i got to thinking at work and when I got off I pulled the ccv reroute hose off thinking a restriction could be pressurising the crank case and keeping the turbo from draining and guess what no smoke all the way home so its fixed yes no more smoke yepeeeeeeeeeee
