Hi there, I'm trying to get some parts from LMC but I need a serial No.
I have a 12/76 f250 4x4, where do I find the serial No. ?
Nothing on the vin plate or under the bonnet that I can find,
any help would be great !!!
The serial number is the LAST six digits of the VIN.
From '73-'77 it's one letter and five numbers, '78-'79 it's two letters and four numbers.
Eg: VIN F10YNR65733 the serial number is R65733.
Not to hijack the thread, but some one has changed the cab on my F250. I have the title for the cab, but I am not sure what the frames year is. Is there any way to tell what year the frame is? I was under the impression that there is also some sort of markings on the frame, if so where are they located? Thank you.
Also heres a weird one, The title says 1979, but looking up the first 3 letters-numbers it says its a 73? Ok can I get a run down on this VIN? F26HCDJ7284.
F26HCDJ7284
F26=F250 4WD pick up
H=351 2bbl V8 engine
C=Ontario Truck plant
DJ7284=1979 model year consecutive serial number
Like 400 .040 over said the VIN number is also stamped on the top side of the right (passenger) side frame rail. It can be anywhere between the firewall and radiator support but is commonly found about inline with the alternator.
There is a second, hidden VIN. It's also on the top right frame rail under the cab about 8"-12" behind the front cab mount.
Just so you know, most states require the frame VIN be the one used for title purposes.
Thank you all for the advice, I will look and see what I find out. Of coarse the truck has the front end so that will make it fun but we'll see.

Im sure there is but the PO had it licened before me, I have the original tag for the previous cab that was on the frame as well. But was giving the current title to the current cab. I hope that makes some sence. I am not sure or up on the laws as too cab swaps, I live in Illinois, they dont concern theirselves with that unless there is a suspition to some wrong doing.
