Remote / auto start

Hi I have an 04 F350 manual trans truck. Is there a good remote / automatic start system that can be added. I will be heading into some -40C weather and would like the starter to sense block temp, start & run to a set warm block temp (I may not be able to plug in). Also I would like the unit to command the engine to idle at around 1200 rpm (I hate idling diesels at low speed).
If no such unit exists is there a close alternative. Thanks

I'm not aware of any system dynamic enough to start and shut off a vehicle at a designated temperature, as well as command high idle. I had a Viper installed on my 04 F350 a little over a year ago (Model 4103VX), but it states automatic transmission only...not sure if there is any way around that. What I do like about it is that once I hit the push start there is a wait-to-start time which I have set to wait at least untill the injectors finish spooling as well as a run-time, once I hit the button I can determine how long I want it to run. I know this isn't much if any help, but at least I can say I have never heard of anything like that yet.

Doing the high idle mod is the only way I know to command the engine to idle up. But I don't think you can do that with a manual...only the slush box trucks. I know of locomotives that will shut down/start up dependent on several variables. But their price tag ($2m USD) and related computer system aren't exactly PSD compatible.

There was a thread I read that there is a way to have it go into high idle after a certain amount of time it is possible but will have to take some work too much for this guy though, IMHO just having the remote start kick in at a certain temperature should be enough to keep everything warm and as long as its not idling for more than 5 mins it should be good enough, besides you dont want it to go strait into a high idle and by the time it should be good to high idle it should shut back down.

that is what you want right? for the truck to heat up and shut back down after a certain temperature?

in cold temps the truck will idle itself up. iirc fords remote start will in fact auto start every few hours and run for 15 min. I could be wrong..
I so need to get around to putting mine in.

I sure it can be overidden. not sure what input would have ot be modified. the issue will be finding someone to install a autostart alarm in it to start with.

Thats one of the Installers first questions is it an auto or manual tranny

you might have to install yourself since you have a manual tranny

I know with mine it can be programmed to come on at certain intervals I dont if I like it one time I was awaken in the middle of the night and I could here my truck running I thought someone was stealing it but they wasnt I must of hit the right sequence of buttons on the remote and it was doing Timed intervals on/off

And also with the remote start if its cold enough it will kick up to high idel on its own

I dont like the fact of starting a cold moter and then kicking it to high idel right away I think Ford has it programmed right to start let it run for a minute or whatever and then go to high idel
Get the juices flowing first B4 making it race Especialy when cold
