ALT and DOUBLE CLICK MY COMPUTER
click on the HARDWEAR or DEVICE MANAGER.
check through all that and make sure non of the hearwear is conflicting. If it is a yellow triangle and back excalimation mark will show up.
also try removing your network card, and turn the pc on, uninstall it then reinstall it both in the pc and with the drivers.
Reinstall the scanner first, install the software, make sure that the device unknown status has been replaced with the proper device name, next, download and install the updates. Once this is done reinstall the ethernet card once again, install the software. then download any updates for the ethernet card.
Windows can be very picky about how you install hardware and software. I doubt it's a hardware conflict though. More likely it sounds like the scanner drivers became corrupted at some point. thus causing the Device Unknown.

Also what OS are you running? The driver date for the scanner looks old 1999 if I remember right. And when do you get the error that you are missing a driver for your hard drive? Depending on the OS and BIOS that you have there might be some other things that we can look at.
Well, I just got back on-line 5 minutes ago.
This afternoon I took the scanner down to the other computer and tried installing it on it.
SUCCESS
Now, the for the PC that it was already hooked up to.
I had to get the screwdriver out> Remove the etherlink card.
R & R the USB card
Clean all terminals
Test
No difference
Remove all scanner software
6 programs worth
Re-install all the software.
Tried it again
Nothing.
Went searching for the driver.
Finally found it on the software disc.
For some reasoon it didn't load to C drive.
5 more minutes & VOILA !
Scanner works
Web cam works
The Coffee works
And The Fingers still work.
Now, Who wants their picture taken ?
