Try just snugging the connections first. That sounds to me like the fuel lines off the back of the pump to the heads. The oil for the turbo is fed up through the block and into the pedestal, so I am guessing it is fuel you're talking about.
Not fuel but oil on line, also some oil on pedestal. Im running out of cheap options, im going to tranny shop this week and letting them check drivetrain.
The oil in the VC connectors isn't really an issue or a sign of an issue. If you think the ones on the the outside see a lot of oil you should see the ones inside the VC!
In regard to the frayed wires at the FPR, that is the fuel filter restriction sensor. That won't really cause a driveability issue, but it should probably be insulated from grounding out against anything. Many of us (myself included) have pulled that sensor out all together and replaced it with an 1/8" pipe plug. Mine didn't work anyway, so I just plugged the hole to eliminate one more potential leak point. If you go that route, just be careful not to tighten the plug down too hard or you will crack the FPR housing.
I actually replaced my fpr cause of a leak. Well I wiggled all the mentioned wires and my truck ran a whole heck of alot better. My y pipe boots need replacing soon also. But something happened in the parking lot at work and its awsome. Still has shift issues but minor. Turbo makes small quiet humm, but tons faster on giddie up. I have a solder gun and its about to get hot.
It's not his trans. We have been talking about a ZF swap since I have one for sale, and he sent me this message this morning:
Abelexcavating
I went to a honest tranny shop, and he said it wasnt tranny, but the motor was weak like you said. I have diy airintake, gutted cat, and a whole list of stuff. It fires up and runs fine, its just soooooo weak. I was just sure it was trans, but he said it had nothing to do with it. He drove the truck and said it was pittiful. Just know he is a duramax fan. He stoped held the brake and put the peddal on the floor all the way and all it did was get loud. So unless things change I wont be putting in five speed. Im sorry about all the questions about your tranny just to back out. That wasnt my intentions at all. You told me it sounded like motor problems and you were right, I am gratefull for all your help. Im seriously thinking of letting this truck go. It just seems like a 148000 mile money pit. Which I bought this truck to be halfway reliable for its age. I would love to give this truck another chance. Thanks again
Josh, If you think you have boost leaks, here is a link to a cool DIY boost leak detector. You may have to adjust it a little to fit the application since you don't have an intecooler, but if you have boost leaks that will certainly hurt your performance.
I think this would be a really good place to start chasing this issue again since you have already worked on the FPR and the truck seems to be running alright and not missing.
lets talk MAP sensor! I tested my truck up a semi steep half mile hill, loaded with mini excavator, unloaded, with and without map sensor. The most noticable difference was she sputteref when letting ofg throttle without map sensor. I also removed map hose andplugged it with map wires removed. It made truck sound a little different,i plan on checking for leaks this weak I hope. MAP is kinda high so im trying to figure out if its worth replacing.
