I had my drivers side power mirror replaced last week. Mt truck is a 2008 F-350 SRW King Ranch.
The new mirror retracts at 1/2 the speed the old mirror retracts at (Folds in). The service dept said sorry nothing they can do...Said Ford has switched mfg's twice since my mirror was made and they must have switched motor speed.
Anyone know if there is a way to calibrate.
I tried the trick in the manual but it has not helped...

Just received a call back from the dealer telling me that all the new trucks for not retract at the same speed. Said they got that bit of information from the Ford Engineers..I will stop by a lot and see..Must say I find this a bit hard to swallow.
Doesn't sound strange to me...the speed of movement will depend on the juice going to the motor...since that isn't going to fluctuate, the motor will only move at whatever rate it's built for.
The power windows in my wife's van crawl compared to my truck. She's stuck with it.

But we are not talking about two vehicles. One mirror on right one on left. Before they had to replace the left (drivers) side mirror they retracted and extended at the same speed. New mirror is slower than the old one.. Not just a little but 1/2 the speed.
They have probably changed to a more robust, stronger, but slower motor. Not really anything you can do except find a used one to match the original or change out the other mirror to the newer type. I wouldn't worry about it, how often do you change mirrors anyway...
The driver side on my truck is slower then the passenger too. Just figured it was normal since it has done it since I picked it up and noticed it right away. Maybe it's the same motor, just turned around. One side spinning right and the other going left. Kinda like a cordless drill, it always goes slower in reverse, maybe the same is true for these mirror motors.
Motors don't exibit different speed/torque characteristics in each direction unless they are controlled differently. In a drill, they may operate at lower power in reverse, though every drill I've used they run the same speed in both directions. When operating directly off 12V, +12V and -12V will produce the same speed and torque in the opposite direction.
