everything works, all vents and controls work but only blow cold air. truck gets up to normal temp no problem. had the issue last year and fixed by changing the control unit. Its been fine since up until the other day. The control **** for "hot/cold" seems like it spins very easy, like theres no resistance when you turn it. I think it was that way last time I changed it to but I dont remember.
I tried searching but couldnt find anything similar.
Check the plastic **** for a crack around the control shaft opening. If there is one, it'll get spread even larger when the **** is pushed back on, and may not turn the shaft.
all the vents and air flow are controlled by vacuum cylinders. The "heat" is controlled by the **** that sends a variable electrical signal to a motor that moves the mixing door in the duct to mix hot and cold air. You can have a bad electrical controller, bad motor, bad gearbox on the motor, or bad duct door .
I replaced the heater/a.c. control unit and nothing has changed. I ran to full temp and thermostat opens, water pump works, no leaks.
does this all mean its a bad duct door? from any posts I read that seems like its a pita to fix. how much would I expect to pay to have it done? I really don't have the time to get into it right now myself.
wow, wish I saw that heatertreater.net post last week. I'm gonna print that out and bring it to the shop and hope the guy didnt start on it yet cuz he will surely go for it with this...
I'm gonna hope for a year or two more out of this rotting truck, and then maybe get a brandy new truck. I heard some of the new models come with an automatic divorce. j/k lol
