Stock Speaker??

I hate to ask this as I am sure it is already posted in the forum but my son is wanting to replace the stock stereo system in his 1999 f-350. I am going to get him the necessary upgrades for Christmas but what I don't know is what size are the stock door speakers? And I assume that there is one is each door, for a total of four speakers?

Also he wants to put a pair of 10" subwoofers under the back seat. Has anybody built a box for subwoofers for under rear seat installation? Any help would be appreciated.

The Stock speakers are 6X8. (it is a ford thing) Your aftermarket will most likely be 5X7's, some companies make 6X8's but there isnt alot of option's. (I believe Pioneer makes them) Check out super crew sound for sub boxes. The last box I bought came from them, pretty nice.
Is his truck a crew cab, extended, or regular?

Stock speakers are 6x8, common aftermarket upgrades are mostly 5x7. There are pre-made sub enclosures you can get, is it a crew cab or super cab?

I would advise a new head unit first, that would be plug and play with the existing door speakers and then you would need just a sub amp and sub. The existing speakers sound much better with a better head unit. You can fit double-din units with a little trimming, or single-din with a kit.

On the front door speakers, depth is important, I believe it is 2 3/8" max depth to the window channel. If you do want to get speakers, don't bother changing the rears since you won't hear a difference. You can go a little over 2 3/8" depth using a spacer if the tweeter doesn't stick out too far to interfere with the door panel.

His truck is a crew cab. I have planned on a pioneer DEH-4300UB head unit. It seems like reasonable performance for a decent price.

My truck is an extended cab and i put two 10" pioneer shallow mounts under the rear seat and they barley stick out heres a pic.

He should have no problem as mine only stick out about an inch and when i rebuild the box i can get them all the way under without sticking out, also i got all 4 of my speakers (6x8's) off of sonicelectronix.com they were Kenwoods and were 80 when i got them but i think they are 40 now. I used that site for everything i have they have great customer service to!

Heres the link to the speakers they are 45 for a pair ive had great luck with them so fare: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...C-C6893PS.html

This is also a link to my subwoofers i just happen to forget if i got the 2 or 4 ohm subs but atleast its something to look at: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_f...low-mount.html
