I have a 1996 Reg Cab with the factory radio and 6.5's in the doors, no 'rear' speakers.
I was wondering if any one has been able to fit a decent system in one of these. I was thinking of quality 6.5 speakers in the stock location in the door, and then some kind of box to hold 6x9's behind the seat. I don't need a sub.
So, I keep finding boxes for 10" and 12" subs, but nothing for 6x9's that will fit.
Not to hijack (ok, I guess I kinda am...sorry!), but what would you all recommend for the "best bang for buck" when it comes to factory replacement speakers? I have an aftermarket head unit and I wanna put some good speakers back in the stock location...
Yea I wasn't gonna say anything because mine's an '87 and I felt that was why...but my '87 XL never had rear speakers, or a spot for them. Easy enough to add a spot though...

Sorry again for the hijack!
Cadence CWM 6 kit would be the best bang for the buck. Ebay for $80 last I checked and they are components.
Also for subwoofer
Cadence CVL-8 or the new s2w8. On amazon right now for $73 shipped.
i have these in my 1990 regular cab and they are the clearest quality speaker for the price! my buddy has the same ones in his f350 but his has an amp going to the highs and he loves them too!!
on my 92, it has 6x9's behind the grills behind the seat.. they are aftermarket speakers, but it looks like the location was designed for them.
They should be 6x8" (well the factory ones were at least). I actually just removed the factory 6x8's and installed an aftermarket pair in my '95 a few weeks ago.
