I have a 2.3 liter fuel-injected 4 cyl 85 Ranger. It was my granfather's truck and he has since passed away and the truck has sit for years because someone tried to hotwire it once. The ignition is totally removed and the only thing there is the wires all dangling.
I connected the yellow wires and tied the green and red wire to it, and the idiot lights come on, the problem is when I touch the red and blue starter wire to it, nothing happens. Any help here?
red/lt blue feed starter relay through the neutral safety / clutch pedal switch
red/lt green feed
the ammeter or alt warning light
the coil and the ignition module
and the EEC power relay
grey/yellow feed the HEGO
I would bet that the neutral safety or clutch pedal lockout are breaking the circuit to the starter relay... so it doesn't crank when out of gear or the clutch pedal is not pushed to the floor.

Thanks Tom. I think you are right about the nuetral safety preventing hookup. I have got it to start by touching the two prongs from the selenoid together, and i tied all the wires together under the steering wheel and hooked a switch up. Now I am going to hook up a push start to the selenoid. Does all that sound like it would work without any danger or electrical problems?
