7500 miles and I've filled mine twice....once at around 3800 and the dealer filled it with 4.5 gals at my first oil change.

Im at 3100 miles now and want to wait for the message center to tell me at 800 miles left. Wanna see how many gallons at that point it will take and the total milage i can expect from it.

One thing I have noticed. When the 800 mile warning came up I added one gallon of DEF to tide me over as my oil change was coming up soon. One gallon did not register. I was down to less than 100 miles to go before I could find more DEF. You need to fill the tank completely, not just add some.

That's not a bad idea to wait for the 800 mile message. I put about 200 miles on mine after the "less than half full" message and it still didn't take the whole 2.5 gallons.

My "half full" message came on in the 2300 mile range. From reading a lot on this board it seems as tho towing, driving habbits, etc have a lot to do with it. My dealer told me at purchase I could expect a refill about every oil change or so which sounds right if u choose changes every 5K. When he said that, he followed up with "I think 7500 to 10,000 it should be filled." I should add that was coming from the salesman not the service manager...

My less than half full warning hit around 3,000 miles. I think it was not filled when I got it from the dealer. I waited until I got the 800 mile warning before refilling again. This happened at 14,000 miles and took 5 gallons to fill. I save the 2.5 gallon container and spout from my first fill where I bought the Ford DEF product. This last time I bought Blue DEF from Autozone for $11.99 for a 2.5 gallon container. I then poured the Blue DEF into the empty Ford container. I then used the refilled Ford container and spout to fill the truck. I like the way Ford engineered their spout but do not want to pay almost twice the price for their product.

No, the factory doesn't fill the tank.
Some dealers are nice and will fill it during PDI but I don't hear about that much.
Almost not worth asking either. Might end up in the fuel tank.
