Before I put the drag radials on the rear, it would break the tires loose and drift sideways if I mashed the gas at 45 mph. I would have to lift or it would go all the way around. It would bark the tires and and get loose going into 3rd at 80 mph. It's plenty fast for me.
...are you painting the truck blue like the wheels?
Yes, the bed is brown right now because I got rear-ended and the original bed was destroyed. The truck was originally Wind Blue and Bahama Blue tu-tone. It's is going to be Wind Blue and Grabber Blue tu-tone.

That is going to be sexy. I just found out my truck was Bahama blue with a white top. I will be going to NAPA soon to pick up my paint. I got a nice new Porter-Cable DA sander/polisher that i thought i would put to use. LOL
Well, a few days ago I ordered a pair of 15 x 8 (with 4-inch BS) Wheel Vintiques Series 62 for my 70 Bump from Summit Racing and one of the wheels arrived today. This is the one shipped from Nevada... the other one is coming from Ohio.
Impressions: Overall, very nice. The stock hubcaps will fit too. I'll be running some dogdish caps. One very important thing to think about when running "outer" clamped hubcaps on deep steel wheels is that you'll either need to find or make a "spoon" to pry off the hubcap without damaging the paint or powdercoat.
The Bad: The red label on the box says to trial fit the wheels on the vehicle. Instead, I measured the diameter and the backspacing and it checked out...........Everything looked fine until I went to measure the bolt circle... it's 5 x 5! ...WTF????? ......... I double-checked the packing slip against my receipt and even checked the website. The part numbers are all correct but the wheel that arrived sure as heck ain't right. I called Summit's customer service line and they said it was prolly boxed incorrectly. They said to wait for the other wheel to arrive in case it is also incorrectly boxed.
Man. Sorry to hear about the bad wheel. It sucks to get so excited to only get so cheesed. And having owned a few classic cars, one of the best dog dish removers I have had has been a paint can opener dipped in that tool handle stuff. You just work around the whole thing, then get under it and give it a good yank. It helps to have some cardboard or a blanket down so it doesn't scratch or dent if you don't catch it.

That would work if the wheel wasn't as deep. But this is D-E-E-P and nary any space btwn the rim and the hubcap. Thanks for the tip though... I'll make some prototypes and test 'em before paint.

I'm glad I'm not in a hurry with my project. I'm planning a spring 2012 thrash and have been accumulating parts - my spare bedroom looks like a Bump exploded in there.
This is the first "wrong" item from Summit. They're spot-on. I put the blame on Wheel Vintiques. I've read up on them and it appears their customer service is lacking... and apparently their attention to detail is also below bar.
I've ordered stuff from LMC and my order was filled correctly but the box also contained stuff I didn't order as well as extras.

You to? It seems like everytime i order a bulk set of parts from LMC i always get extra parts and at least one of my parts is wrong. But if i order just a few things there spot on. Also with LMC if they screw up and send you the wrong part YOU have to pay for shipping back to them. Then they charge you a restocking fee. So basically you pay for there screw up.
I think i am going to start using NPD. I have heard good things about them.
I cant say anything bad about summit. Iv never been let down by them.
Here's mine with new rims and tires. I wanted to stick with a 16" rim for tire options and go for old-school big rubber.
They fill the wheel wells nicely. I did have to remove the front mud flaps (a PO addition) due to rub during parking lot turns, but I do kind of miss them now, my truck is never, ever clean due to tire spray...
