Yes. On my last ones (Bilstein HD shocks) I put a coat of clear paint on them. This time I am goint to use three coats. The factory paint is rather thin and does not take long to look like crap with all the salt on the roads in the winter. It is just some extra protection. I used a clearcoat paint for automotive wheels last time. I am sure the Rustoleum will work just fine.

Thanks for the info. If I don't get my hands on one of the other products then I'll use something like Rustoleum or whatever looks good at the local Autozone.

Kevin I got my shocks in last week and had a look at them. They don't look like they are painted. They have a brushed finish and almost look to be stainless. Have you had any rust form on yours at all?

I have not taken a very close look at them yet. They do like they might develop some rust in the winter, now this last winter was not bad so that is a bad judge. I think some fluid film before the salt start to fly would help a lot. I do seem to make sure I clean the shocks every time I wash my truck to make sure they stay looking good.

OK I will slap on a coat of clear just to be safe as planned.

Thread from the dead. Decided to upgrade the factory "Rancho" shocks on my 13 with 19,000 miles.

I just ordered a set of Rancho RS9000XL shocks. $350 shipped and Rancho is currently offering a $100 mail-in rebate on a set of four.

Not a bad deal IMO.

I put the same Ranchos on our 2011 last year, I really like them especially when towing, made a huge difference!
