The Shocking truth....

These Rancho shocks are junk. I know it's been discussed many times but I just got first hand knowledge for myself.

Last night I had some guys over to start installing my new Icon 4.5 lift. After the stock parts started coming off I had to laugh at those crappy little Ranchos just begging to be thrown in the trash. You can see in the pictures one of them is collapsed.

Even if you don't have any intentions in putting a lift on your truck you need to replace the FX4 package shocks.

Check out the new 2.5 Icon Piggy backs, night and day as compared to stock. I will follow up with installed lift kit pictures when it done.

I know. Most of us have grown tired of reading the same story but I know where you're coming from. When you take them off it's really hard to resist running to your computer and spouting off at how stupid those things are.

It's all good with me, the more people bad mouth them, the better. I'm glad you are getting your truck straightened out!

My son has Ferrari stuff all over his room and we go to road Atlanta every year for the petit le mans. Love watching those patron and flying lizard ferraris go......sorry for bringing it up but I have lots of respect for someone who is able to own a stable of ferraris. You're a lucky man.

Hey Mmollo, you will have to let me know how those piggybacks ride. I have the regular smooth shocks on my truck and was thinking about replacing with a set of King piggyback shocks. I just feel that with regular everyday driving they are just a little harsh, but once they get a load on them they ride like a Cadillac. They don't perform to bad in the rough stuff as well. I was told its due to the digressive setup on the shocks that they do not ride well when empty, I don't know all that much about the progressive/digressive differences. I rode in another truck that had Fox shocks and it was a huge difference.
I do have to say that they still ride much better than the stockers that they truck came with.
Thanks,

When I was gearing up to factory order my new truck, I was going to add the FX4 package, but after reading how lousy the Rancho 'branded' shocks are, I ordered the factory skid plates as a stand-alone option. I'll replace my factory shocks shortly after I get the truck, and I don't care about the hill descent control.

FTE forums saved me a couple of hundred bucks.

Hijack in progress....

Who did you order these from and how much? Also, do you happen to have the part numbers?

Sorry, that was a confusing info request on my end. I was actually asking about the skid plates for those that didn't get the FX4 the first time.

He purchased the option when he built and ordered his new SD.

^^^Correct, thanks.^^^

I'm sure any dealer could order you the skids though... Even better might be to find a talented fabricator to make you some serious ones.

I don't see any bad Rancho shocks here, just some mislabeled FoMoCo bad shocks. If you could have gotten the dog to pee on them, that would be an epic pic!
