In the spring of 2010 i bought my 06 navigator. The first weekend it set a code and misfired terribly the little dealer said " it shows a misfire but we cant tell witch one, and its not doing it now". I took it home (angrily) and replaced all 8 plugs with autolites and all 8 cops with accel parts. In 4 month (1 month after the warranty is up) the first coil gives up. Six months later another and this past week the third one. I ordered a set off ebay and now I have spares at least. Why cant they make parts that last longer than a few months. They all have looked the same and all are made in china. At least the new ones have a warranty. Thanks for reading this just needed to vent a little. Oh by the way its running like a new truck now.
I'm not a big fan of Accel products. A good 15+ years ago Accel was the standard, now they're just another overpriced big name with bottom feeder quality.
Found that out the hard way. I used there products years ago on all my fun cars and I guess I just expected them to be the same quality. Sometimes you dont get what you pay for.
It is crappy that name-brand parts don't hold up. I must say that I bought a set of 8 COPs off ebay from Global Automotive and have not had a problem in two years. (Knock on wood!)
This is not the first time that I've heard about these Accel cops failing prematurely. Did you notice the "performance boost" that they claim you will get? Even if it was legit, I'd imagine it would be hard to notice.

Made in the PRC, Peoples Republic of China = poor or inferior components combined with lousey quality control used to build products for sale here in the USA and elsewhere with what was once a name equated to very high quality products.
Years ago we complained about Japanese and Taiwanese products being imported that looked just like the American made products we were used to, but at least the quality was nearly as good as that manufactured here. Not so now, with China made products seemingly made with little regard to quality or consumer safety.
The bigger shame is that companies that were once highly regarded are forced to outsource manufacturing of important parts to keep the lights on or stay in business for as long as they can with the better American made products at higher prices and eventually going belly up anyway as no one is willing to spend the money for a name brand.
The almighty buck rules at the consumer level as well as at the manufacturing level. We are all guilty of bringing this situation about, think about it... Buy American, the job you save might be your own.
