I buy plenty of motorcraft parts from Ford dealers off eBay but I get your point.
the one I bought was faulty and hey, that happens even with motorcraft parts, my issue was the seller was less then cooperative when it came time to send me a replacement.

it says the part number. i looked that up and it comes back as a motorcraft part number
That's just the OE number they are using as a cross reference so you know it works for your vehicle. Using that number as a cross reference doesn't mean it's a remanned unit from Ford, and in fact based on the ad, it's a unit they have remanned in-house.
Nowhere on that listing does it say who remanufactured the part. Lots of official sounding words but nothing of substance. The seller is a online retailer of turbo chargers not the rebuilder.
I recently replaced mine with an Adrenaline from DieselSite and with as much crap as you have to pull off to get to it I wouldn’t want any cheap HPOP to replace later.
If you're going to buy a HPOP, spend the money and get yourself an Adrenaline HPOP. They've been in service since 2009 and I had one of the first ones they released to the public. Bob had long since refined this pump even further to keep up with whatever it needs to feed and stand the test of time.
