I have a 2007 f150 fx4 with the 5.4 motor, 85k miles. I'm going to have a local deler replace the plugs for $225.00, broke plugs extra. The dealer wants $105.00 per COP. Has anybody used aftermarket COP or do you know another source to buy motorcraft parts
I seArched 5 pages with words containing coil pack. No one replied back with reliability test
Pardon my spelling as I type this on my wifes stupid iPad
Jegs has coils on ebay, 5.4l 3v coil, $32.99 buy it now. There are also OEM vendors on the forum.
Why pay $225 plus? The tool needed is available, shipped to your door within a couple of days, for about $90 - if you break a plug; I had 100% success with the tool for the 2 that broke on mine.
Follow the TSB in preparation for removal; you may get lucky and not break any with only 85k on the plugs. It's your money - spend it when you want to.
I just replaced all 8 on my truck. I got mine from www.Rockauto.com they are $45.79 with the new boot included. Depending on where you live the shipping might change but I got all 8 with shipping for $374.67 I hope this helps. Oh I almost forgot that is for Motorcraft parts. They cost a little more than others that are out there but thats whats in our trucks so as often as I can, I put it back in it.
FWIW Ed The Parts Guy here also sells OEM for a good price---might give him a look.
Also Granatelli sells a complete set of 8 for about $200 including the boots. I bought these and apart from one failing under warranty they've been a good investment.
I do hear the Accel's are ones to avoid if going the aftermarket way.

Back in the day, my friend George called it "Decel". Had 2 fail on my '99 with twin coil packs; George was right.
