05 xcr 0299 underboost code
I'm getting a 0299 underboost code. The engine light comes on and off and the computer throws the code but there are not any noticable profromance issues. I may have an increase in white smoke when it is cold. I really don't want to spend the money on a new turbo if i don't have to at this point but if it's inevetable that is going have to be replaced should i just bite the bullet now? Or do i have the thing completely cleaned (change hoses, gaskets that kind of stuff) and see if that solves the problem. I'm not really a techy on these things but I do use a guy that i trust.

There are a few things you can do first. Check the MAP sensor and hose and make sure it is clean. Its mounted on the HVAC box near the firewall, the hose runs to the PS of the intake. Then pull the EBP sensor and tube off and clean it. Typically clogged with soot. On the 05, I believe its mounted on the Tstat stud. If that doesnt resolve your issues you will likely be looking at pulling the turbo and cleaning it, unison ring probably sticking...
