i think i am going to try to get a grinder in there and cut a hole in the support of the bed so i can get a pair of vise grips on the bolt in the support then wrench it then i can weld it back up when i get the bed off.
I considered suggesting that but didn't think you'd be willing to cut into support. I know i wouldn't just to save on a little bed lining, not on a good solid bed to start with.
That and the heat created welding in the patch might tend start coating on fire if work to fast doing so. One little tack here and there at a time skipping around to keep heat down isn't best way to produce a good solid weld/repair. Body panel patch yea but not structural such as that will be.
ok well i got another one off with my dad just used a flat bar and put a little tension on the bed and it came off but the other one we tryed drilling a hole through the support through the bolt with a small bit then we put a tiny screw driver through the hole but the nut just snaped off the bolt.
Funny, my son and I removed our 90 bed today. All the bolts spinned and the nuts were frozen. I welded a 1/2 nut to the bolt tops in the bed the could remove the nuts. Two bolt broke but got 4 out this way. Salt does a number on iron. Anthony
