I just replaced the rotten oak in my bed with plywood this year. Althought I didn't actually lift the bed off the frame, it was sitting loose.
There's six or eight odd looking bolts that go through the metal strips and bolt to crossmembers. There's a couple of bolts where the running boards bolt to the reaf fenders and bed sides. There's wires and that's pretty much it.
It's simple, but it's not easy. Those odd bolts get rusted. Soak them in penetrant like Liquid Wrench (not WD40). PB Blaster is another good one. Or just order some new bolts and grind the heads off the old ones.
