BAD NEWS FOR THE RESEALED OIL PAN POWERSTROKE BLUES.

Unfortunatly its a little more complicated then that...this guy paid a fly by nite wana be mechanic to do an oil pan reseal and what he got was someone who did not care what his work was like...I drained the oil the other day because twice now the resivoir ran dry while driving and left the guy on the side of the road with 2 towing bills and less then 15 mile since the job was done...what came out of the pan was a couple small pices of rtv and clumps of dirt and oil clauds and i wonderd why is there dirt and oil clauds coming out of the oil pan and clean oil...i looked up under the crossmember and i could see where the guy did not clean the frame and he ran the front of the oil pan right into the crossmember a few times and pushed the pan upward scraping all the crap off and into the pan and pushing the rtv into the pan...the front of the pan is wet with oil allready leaking out and down the pan...I can only imagine what the pick up screen looks like at this point not to mention what the oil pump picked up and ran through the system possibly keeping the check valve open in the block or damaging the pump(s) I put a screw driver on the oil screen pick up houseing and pushed it a little and the pick up houseing moves up and down about a quarter of an inch and then bottoming out and springing back down when you relase... and the pick up is 1/2 in or less from the bottom of the pan...I cant even see the screen so I told the guy to hunt down this so called mechanic and make him take it back apart and fix it right or get his money back...personaly im afraid to even offer to re do the thing because there will probably be damage from the fine sand like dirt and grit going through the system.

Got ir running! Thanks guys for all the help! Saved me a ton of money. I ended up finding the part on ebay for $125 shipped overnight. Truck seems to be runnign great now. I hear an air leak somewhere so I jsut have to go through and check all my connections again, but the truck started and ran down the road fine so that is the great part!
