I have a 2005 and for some reason my drivers side window switch can not put down the passenger side window. You can use the passenger side switch to put the window down. I changed out the master window switch on the drivers side with no resolve. Any ideas anyone?
I had a "00 Ranger with the same problem. Ended up changing out the actual motor in the door to fix the problem. Was lucky and got some out of bone yard for a fraction of what the dealer wanted. My old ones were gunked up and just wore out. Replace at about 5 yrs old and 50K on the clock just for info.
You changed the switch in the drivers door and still not able to power the window down.
Are you able to raise the window with the drivers switch?
Are you experienced tracing a wiring fault?
Two possible faults are;
a bad switch
A bad wire/connection between the drivers switch and the motor in the passenger door.
Both need a Ohm meter to check.
On my '08 service manual shows that the down circuit is;
Pull the drives switch and check for continuity across pin one and pin 8.
the drivers door switch connector C535 pin 8 (Tan/Light Blue wire) goes to C604 pin 3 on the passenger door window switch
Check for continuity between the two connectors.
The power for the drivers switch passes through the passengers switch to get to the passenger motor.
The passenger switch may have an internal fault preventing the power passing through.
Check for continuity across pin 3 and pin 2 on the passenger switch.
I think that the most likely point of trouble is the passenger switch.
