78 Bronco Tailgate

I know you guys have a lot of threads already on this but i am in a bit of a pickle, and haven't really seen threads pertaining to my issue. First off is my window motor, i think the motor just needs to be replace but i am not sure, what happens is, when i try to roll it up i have to have somebody else back there to help cause it will go too slow to lift up. It goes a few inches before it stops, then whoever is helping will pull up on it and it will go a bit more ect. Anyways i am thinking that is just a motor replacement. Now as for the tailgate, apparently something within the latch system is broken because the tailgate does not close, the previous owner neglected to tell me this and had put latch style things on the outside so that it holds itself on. The key switch doesn't work but the dash one does and i have a feeling that has something to do with it. BASICALLY what i am asking is, how hard is it to fix the latch system on one of these, i haven't had it very long and it is such a pain rolling the window up and down that i don't want to try to open the panel and look at it, plus it has been raining a lot so i haven't had much of a chance. Sorry about the long story but i figured i would try to get the details all out on the table.

I know on my 81 if you replace the weatherstripping/ anti rattle pieces that helped. If your felt pieces are fine try cleaning the window really good and maybe some wax on the window for the felt pieces just to help it out some. I don't think it will mess anything up. Also if you don't have a strong battery if you are running the vehicle the motor will be a lot stronger. That is all if you really don't want to replace the motor. With the latches, if you plan on keeping the bronco just dig in and learn that whole operation back there. That is how I learned mine. Shoot I didn't even know when I first got a bronco that you had to have the window ALL the way down to open the tailgate.
Hope it helps.......

Thanks for helping, My truck is a bit different, first off i do plan to keep it so i will want to dig in i might just need some pointers on the space issue cause that little access hole is not going to be easy to work in. Next i am not sure if this truck would be the same as an 81 but i can have the tailgate open or closed and the window will move and i can have the window up or down to open it cause none of the latching system works, the 2 latches on the side move like they are supposed to but they don't stay latched when you do it, i also don't think there is a safety switch anymore. I found out that the latches don't work after i bought it, the previous owner told me he put external ones on to keep it from rattling when he would take it camping. When the rain stops and i get a fairly sunny day i might go out and poke about and see if i cant fix it but as of now i can't bring the window down unless i expect to endure 20 minutes of getting it back up on my own. the wax/lube/cleaning thing is a good idea, i might give it a whack
