Your best bet is to search this forum for information. punch "tailgate window" into the search an you will get plenty of results. This issue has been covered time and again. More often than not, you are dealing with either failed component in the regulator or just a sticky window. If the motor is new and it sounds like its still running even with the window not moving, you probably have a problem with the gearhead on the motor. If the motor is stalling, you have a window/track alignment problem.

We have an 89' Bronco,,a previous driver, backed into a tree slightly, hitting the spare tire, and putting a slight bend in the gate,,the window works but when you use the inside switch, someone has to push in on the Tailgate to make it work. I think there is a safety switch in the gate,,could this possibly be bad on your truck,,?? How about the outside key for the tailgate,,did you try that ?

there are safety switches inside (to prevent the glass from being raised/lowered unless the gate is fully closed and some on the latch itself) that get out of alignment....if you push in on the outside ends while working the key, it should allow the glass to open....that should get it open, then they have to be adjusted....kinda tricky....if they arent adjusted properly, and the gate isnt closed, the rear window can shatter, seen it many times on all of the 78-96 broncos....I've had a few 78's, 89, and 96 and seen it happen a few times....

Did window come out of the rail guide track?

I had my window go between the rail and the soft rail guide on one side and end up getting stuck part way down, then wouldn't move at all. There are two buttons that the back part of the key switch hits - upper one puts the window up, lower down. Take the tailgate access panel off and look at the rail tracks on both sides to see if the window is sitting properly in the rails. If not, pull up/out on the window while pressing the button for the key switch with the tailgate down and drivers side latch in the lock position. Then reposition the window with it all the way up in that rail guide.

Hope that helps!
