Guess I never really thought about the added tires and hubs and fender drag on the fuel. Glad I saw this I have been shopping around for a 350 DRW and/or SRW and now with this info I think I will go with SRW. I only tow heavy every once in a while. I was thinking that the DRW would be better for towing a 5th wheel.

Any thoughts on that?
and George truck looks just fine like that.
DRW is always going to haul bedtter, but if you don't tow heavy that much I wouldn't worry about it. I tow heavy a lot and don't want one, hence the F450 SD springs going on the rear.

Well I could get me the DRW for the tow and keep the other. hmmmmm
would a dually have a higher gear ratio than a sw? would that cause the mpg difference?
Nope. THey came with 4.10's and 3.55's, although MOST of the duallys have 4.10s. But a SRW truck with 4.10's will get better mileage than a DRW with 4.10's.
What I hate about a dually is parking it, towing a smaller trailer (like a boat) and not being able to see where the trailer is at, and getting stuck on wet grass...
