windshield wiper washer

My washer will not work unless I hot wire it, no juice at the wires. Is this a problem with the switch in the steering colume? The wipers work fine.

Seems like I read on here that you can spray cleaner or something in there first to see if that will clean it up. Has anybody heard of that?

Pete, thanks, I might take you up on that! Aren't they a bitc!! to change out??

Glenn,

You can spray the MFS out with electrical contact cleaner, but I doubt that is going to help if the issue is the wiper switch since it is at the end of the stick.

They're not bad at all to change. Takes about ten minutes. Remove the tilt steering column lever if you have that (the whole lever just unscrews). Then you just take the bottom off the steering column (3 or 4 phillips head screws) and then there are two or three torx head screws that hold the whole MFS onto the column. The hardest part is getting the wire connectors off the MFS, but that can be done pretty easily too with a small slotted screwdriver. Seriously, having done it a time or two, I think I can do one in ten minutes or less. Having the tilt steering column makes it a little bit easier since there is one screw that holds the two halves of the steering column cover together that is at the lower right hand side below and in front of the lock cylinder. It's really not too bad.

Here is a writeup Travis did on how to; has lots of pictures too.

Just wondering, is the MFS also part of the CC? Or is it just wipers, intermittent wipers, washer, turn signals, hazard's, bright lights and maybe horn (am I missing something)? Spraying mine didn't help, I'll have to replace it.

All lights are routed through the MFS so I would say yes in a way the CC is tied into it
